Starting this set of lessons I was excited to see what 'Magical Markers' was all about.
First off, Sara Naumann is amazing and offered so many techniques. I would definitely recommend this Altenew class to everyone.
I have worked with Copic Markers for many years and have recently added the Altenew Artist Markers to my collection. I have used my alcohol markers and re-inkers in many non-conventional ways, but this was a good reminder of techniques I'm familiar with and many new techniques.
I decided that I really wanted the markers to be the focus of this challenge so I started by making my own background paper for the base of the card front.
Looking through the stencils in my collection, I picked
I started by coloring a piece of paper with 3 Artist Markers
I finished coloring the panel and then taped my stencil on top
Using a scrap of terry towel, I soaked it with basic rubbing alcohol and dabbed/ pressed it all over the stencil. You will watch the pattern develop as you press and lift. I did this all over the the panel.
This is my finished panel
note - I used a heat tool to speed the drying time and you will continue to see the pattern develop until dry
I just wanted to show you how cool the backside looks!
I wanted to custom color some ribbon for my project, so all you do is take white or cream ribbon and drag your marker over it. Easy Peasy
I tied a bow and them scrunched the ribbon to give it a shabby chic look
Did you know you can also color gems with you markers? Well here you go, custom colored ribbon and embellishments for your projects.
I added a sentiment, stamped leaves, sequins with the colored pearls and edged the sentiment strip with the side of my marker to tie everything together.
I hope all the pictures helped you understand the techniques for this card.
