April Recap

So today not everything I'm sharing is crafting related.  April has been a rather busy month with a visit from my Daughter, a trip to Indiana and then teaching 5 classes since the 17th.

My Daughter flew to Iowa for her birthday and then we traveled to Indiana to meet up with my Sister and Niece. Our final destination was Ft. Wayne Indiana to attend the Vera Bradley Outlet Sale.

We started out the morning by wearing the same shoes (not planned) and then drove 8 hours to Indiana.

Making several stops along the way, I did snap a few pictures.  Couldn't pass up this photo op with the chicken.  Everyone wanted to know if we purchased the chicken and sadly the answer is 'NO'
Now my Daughter is not very tall, but this chicken was over 5 feet tall.

Arriving in Ft. Wayne to celebrate several birthday's, we joined my Sister and Niece for a fabulous dinner.

Our next stop would be at 6:00 am to join the line of ladies to 'shop-till-we-drop' at the Vera Bradley Outlet Sale.
The only way to describe this event is that it compares to the running of the bulls, but with hundreds of crazy women!

This is just the back of one car. Oh MY!

My Daughter and I returned back to Iowa to finally celebrate her birthday with family here, and she had an opportunity to relax a little before flying back home.

I did make her a card, so I will leave you with that little bit of crafting today.

I used Altenew Springtime Azalea and the Birthday Builder Stamp Set.

If you've stuck with me to this point, thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Blessings,

Nancy

Final Challenge of Level 3 - AECP

I'm so excited to share with you my Final Challenge for my Level 3 Altenew Certification.

This last part has been in the works for about 30 days which included lesson plans, organizing participants, scheduling my workshop and then FINALLY,  the day arrived.

The Final Challenge given to me was:
  • to teach in a classroom setting with 4-10 students
  • email my progress and workshop details to Altenew leadership
  • share my workshop live with Altenew leadership via Google Hangout
  • post o my blog the final student projects and my reflections

These are the three cards I designed for my workshop using the
Peony Bouquet Stamp and Die Set

Everyone working hard on stamp alignment

This was the first time all 6 students had experimented with Altenew layering stamps and
I must admit there were some challenges, but once the class finished the first card there was definitely that 'Wow' moment.
This class has put the excitement in me that I love, which is teaching new techniques to people and then seeing the beautiful results achieved.

I want to share some of the final cards for a closer look.

Here's everyone with their completed cards.

Lastly, I want to thank friends, students and my fabulous husband for their support during this last 30 days.
I can't wait to teach another Altenew Class.

Blessings,

Nancy

Welcome Baby

This is going to be a quick post today, but I wanted to share a baby card that I made for a friend of my Daughters.

I used the Concord & 9th 'Hi There Bear Stamp Set'

For the sentiment I selected the banner from Altenew Baby Balloon Set

I simply used scraps and various inks to make this card for a sweet baby boy.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Cleaning Time Again

Every couple of weeks I have the need to clean off my workspace.
I've been very busy working on some new projects, so all the leftover rejected items have accumulated and need of a home.
I sorted everything and selected a few items to make this card.

The flowers are from Altenew Layered Roses and the sentiment is from the
Altenew Sketchy Floral Stamp set.

Check out the video for complete instructions.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend.

Creative Coloring Final Class

My second project assignment was to color and shade a floral image.  I don't have the exact image that Mindy used so I went through my Altenew sets and selected the Sketchy Rose Stamp Set.

I needed to stamp several flowers so a little masking needed to happen.  After stamping the two roses I needed a few leaves, so I took those from the Build -A- Flower Anemone Stamp Set.

Artist Markers Used:
G702,G715,G554
R302,R304,R318
C002,R702,R823,R705

When I turned my image over to apply adhesive, this is what it looked like on the back.
I wanted to share how cool the image looked.  Probably could have used either side and may try something like this again.

Thanks for stopping today.

Creative Coloring

I finally had a chance to finish my last two assignments for my
Altenew Creative Coloring With Artist Markers class.

This is my first card.

I did try to duplicate my cards with the samples that Mindy Baxter offered during class.

The first lesson was to practice no-line coloring.  I inked my image with black Memento Ink and then stamped it off twice on scrap paper before coloring.  This creates a very light gray image.
After coloring the flower I took my marker and free-handed a stem and then practiced small flicking motions to add the grass.  The fun dots were added around the flower for a great detail.

Sorry I've been Absent......

So after returning from St. Louis I had to jump right into teaching classes.  I just started two new beginning Copic classes at Scrapmania, here in Cedar Rapids.
This is a 7 month process and is always rewarding for me as I see all the students evolve.

I have also been working towards my final steps in the Altenew Educator Certification Program. I can't share all the details now, but want to share a couple of cards I worked up during my process.  Here's the first one today.
I promise to share all the details soon.

I used the new Hope Stamp Set from Altenew.
Ink colors used are:
